After the variance was issued in April, the County required that the restroom be designed with floodproofing measures. Initially, our engineer prepared calculations and FEMA documentation based on wet floodproofing, incorporating waterproofing measures. Shortly afterward, the County changed its position and required dry floodproofing instead. This shift required our engineer to rework the approach, which involved many discussions and disputes with County engineering staff. Those discussions extended into the summer months, slowing down the review process. At this time, the County will only accept these calculations directly from the restroom manufacturer.

It is important to emphasize that while these permitting issues have taken time, they are strictly administrative requirements. They do not affect the project’s overall timeline. The unanimous direction from the Board on September 11, 2025, was to “Prepare an RFP for the construction of the Cambria Skatepark, and issue the RFP as soon as final construction permits are obtained from the County and weather conditions are suitable.” The Cambria Community Services District is not scheduled to go out to bid until closer to the construction window in the first quarter of 2026. By then, these engineering and permitting requirements for the restroom will be resolved, along with the remaining of the required construction permit documents, and it will be close to the end of the rain season.

At this stage, we can provide no further information beyond what has already been submitted to the County.
